My website has gone through a metamorphosis, now with a fancy new look and new content. I don’t know why I phrased this so blithely, like I just woke up one day and my website had disappeared into a cocoon for a couple weeks and only to emerge with beautiful wings. Upgrading it was actually quite a bit of work, entirely due to my technical incompetence.
But now, after much glaring at a computer screen with a furrowed brow and curses on the tip of my tongue, it’s ready to share! A million thanks to Chris Pecora for designing the elegant new header image. This was the only part of the website upgrade that did not leave me gnashing my teeth, and is also my favourite part of the changes.
I’m quite excited about starting the newsletter. I enjoy writing the blog, but I also find myself burning out on it sometimes, wanting to work on my fiction more often than blog posts. Therefore, the newsletter is born. (Again, I made it sound so easy, when actually it took me an embarrassingly long time to sort out the subscription process). I will be sending out the newsletter approximately four times a year (every three months) with an update on what’s new with my writing, relevant historical trivia, thoughts on the craft of writing, and probably also some other random things that catch my fancy. You can expect something similar to a blog post, but a little longer and better organized, with some recurring categories. Basically, it’s the kind of thing that you can read for five or ten minutes while you drink your coffee and procrastinate getting down to real work. Of course, I haven’t totally given up on the blog and will continue to update it as well.
My new site layout is meant to help me better connect with readers. Writing can be kind of an isolating activity, and I would love to talk about writing, books, storytelling, history and any other interesting subjects. So, please, go ahead and comment, send me an email, or sign up for the newsletter. (Please sign up for the newsletter especially, so that my mom isn’t the only one!)
